A Muslim Child's Guide to Love and Valentine's Day!

ADVENTURE

"I am LATE for work! Let’s run to Walmart to pick up some groceries quickly."

I grab my four-year-old, buckle him into the van, and we drive off.

As we make it to the store and we walk down the aisles, it looks like Barney threw up everywhere...
pinks, reds, hearts, and ‘love’ plastered across the store.

I rush to complete my shopping list, dragging my four-year-old behind me, who is busy reading the walls.

I don’t think much of it. I think he is probably just stuck trying to sound out val-en-tine in syllables.

I grab an item when suddenly he asks:

"Mama, what’s Valentine’s?"
(Insert a horror movie soundtrack)

Darn you, Mrs. Morgan, his preschool teacher. Why is he reading already?!

Then I remember... oh yeah, he was an early reader, mashallah. That’s what happens when you have multiple kids... You forget some of them have talents.

But now what?

How do I even explain Valentine's Day to him?

Why hasn’t anyone prepared me for this parenting moment?

Everyone is quick to hand out sleeping tips and potty training advice, but NO ONE tells you what to say or do when your kids ask you about pretty important stuff.... like their identity.

I don’t even remember what I told him in that moment. Probably something along the lines of, "Let’s talk about it later."

When I got home, I searched for resources to teach Muslim kids about this holiday and what it really means.

I was an overworked mom who rarely had the energy to break this down to a four year old in an age-appropriate manner.

Surprise.

I found nothing except a few scattered blog posts telling me not to celebrate it.

That moment ended up defining the work I do today.

What started with Halloween workshops turned into Valentine’s, Christmas, and beyond.

I shared my resources online, and parents LOVED them.

So now, here’s the result of all that work.

A single workshop where I teach little kids (5-12) what love means in Islam.

We discuss Valentine’s from an Aqeedah standpoint because if we are not, that's a problem!

If this sounds like something you need, join the workshop for a limited time!

But take heed.... my parents keep coming back for the next workshop so consider the following options and take the one that makes sense to you.

Option 1: Join this workshop only. The link to register is below.

Option 2: Get ongoing support inside my monthly membership, where I send out my curriculum covering mainstream holidays and Islamic education (yes, we’ve expanded!). Click here if you are interested in this option.  I am currently running a limited time sale there too!

Thank you for reading! Check out the workshop details below.

BOY, I AM LATE!

What if you could experience peace of mind as your child confidently navigates the love season without feeling torn or confused, knowing that your child has the knowledge and tools to stand firm in their beliefs?

What if you could witness genuine joy on your kids' faces as they gain a deeper understanding of why Valentine's Day isn't just about love and kindness?

What if you could see your child's Islamic identity strengthen as they develop critical thinking skills through engaging, age-appropriate activities, all while enjoying their learning journey?

What if you could bask in the sense of pride, ease, clarity and fulfillment in knowing that your children are well-equipped to make informed decisions about their faith now and in the future no matter what holiday it is while fostering a stronger connection to their identity in a way that makes sense to them?

Well.. this is your day because...

just imagine...

A Valentine Workshop for Muslim Kids

You're invited to join the

The "not found anywhere on the internet", done for you, workshop made for 5-12 year olds.

In today's world, we cannot take a passive approach to mainstream holidays. If the child can see these holidays being promoted everywhere, then it's our job as parents to give them the tools they need to steer clear from it. Saying "It's haram" or "Muslims don't do that" is not enough neither is it effective for today's generation. Join me on a journey of fun learning and reflection, following the child's observations and curiosities without judgement. And together let us reframe their natural interest with the guidance and knowledge of Islam. This is a method I used over 5+ years and it's an interest-based, research backed, and Islam driven method that works.

Salam, Mama!

My name is Eman and I am a mother of four, an early childhood & development educator and a former teacher.

Over the past few years, I've developed workshops for Muslim children that supports their identity formation through mainstream holidays like Halloween, Christmas Valentines, day.... and so on. Muslim parents requested more of them in fact, I was asked to create more programs that tackled various topics related to the Muslim child's identity, from gender fluidity to non-islamic cultural practices and early Islamic education.

The need for resources and brave spaces to help parents and children discuss complex issues beyond "Muslims don't do that" or "It's haram" was alarmingly evident. Our children are in dire need for engaging and age appropriate Islamic education that is relevant to their current life experiences. And that is how my mainstream holidays series was born!

Well...

Thank you for the amazing course. It came on time for my daughter who joined public school four days ago. We needed more enforcement on how to explain why we do not celebrate Valentine's day.

It's a fact: Children who are confident in their own beliefs are less susceptible to peer pressure.

A 2008 study by Bartkowski found that religious solidarity among parents and communication between parent and child were linked to positive development characteristics.

Researchers from (UTSA) analyzed data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study (ECLS)-Kindergarten Cohort and it showed that third-graders’ psychological adjustment and social competence were positively associated with  religious  upbringing at home.

Here's how it works

Phase 1

Phase 2

We dive into the world of Valentine, exploring its traditions, rituals, and uncovering the deeper meanings behind each of them

We reframe each Valentine tradition and critically analyze  how it aligns with the Islamic
teachings and principles. We discuss the ramifications and dangers of taking these concepts lightly.

Each lesson video comes with questions and reflections, allowing children to apply their learning to their everyday lives.

Phase 3
